Geologie Cabernet Sauvignon - 2018

Geologie Cabernet Sauvignon - 2018

from A$25.00

Clare Valley, South Australia

Géologie is French for Geology. We named it that because we think the geologie of the Clare Valley is what makes it special and we made it French cause it sounds fancier and has an accent over the e. Classy.

The label came about because Cabernet Sauvignon tends to be a bit old fashioned and usually has pictures of chateaus or family crests on it and well, we don't have any of those things so we made one. However this wine is not really old fashioned so we made it with modern colours to make it more modern. We also threw in a bit of latin, 'denique vinum, bonum temporibus' which just means Fine Wine and Good Times.

I guess I should probably talk about the geology since that is what we called it after all. It's from a dry grown vineyard just out of the Clare township, a pretty special area. Clay over lots of rocks like granite and slate. In geological history, Clare has seen everything from glacial to arid environments, lucky it's pretty lovely now and with a mediterranean climate.

Onto the wine itself. This Cabernet Sauvignon displays beautiful rich and ripe flavours of blackcurrants, plums, spice and beautifully integrated oak. Smooth and delicious. It's now had about 5 years to mature and is developing beautiful, velvity, silky tannins that drink like a dream.
